K. Ralph Atkinson


K. Ralph Atkinson, 80, of Kettering, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in Dayton.

He was born Sept. 30, 1918, in Barnesville, son of Guy C. and Sarah F. Atkinson.

Mr. Atkinson lived in Dayton since 1950. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific.

He was post commander of VFW Post 2792, Barnesville. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Kettering.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Kennard Atkinson; a daughter, Patricia; an infant son, John R.; a brother, R. Dale and wife Betty Jo; a brother, Gene; a brother-in-law, Herman Gallagher; a step-son, Douglas.

He leaves his wife of 32 years, Hazel M. (Strukamp) Atkinson; a son, K. Ralph II (Mildred) of Brookville; a daughter, Mrs. David (Melissa) Kooistra of Florida; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; four brothers, Lawrence (Betty Jane) of Dover, Guy J. (Louise) of Massillon, Jack (Kathleen) of Senecaville, Tom (Betty Jane) of Cambridge; a sister, Mrs. Herman (Carole) Gallagher of Barnesville.

Mass of Christian burial was Friday, Feb. 2 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Kettering.
