Estella A. "Sheila" Carpenter


BARNESVILLE — Estella A. “Stella” Carpenter, 83, of Prescott, Ariz., formerly of Barnesville and Quaker City, died Saturday (Dec. 23, 2000) in Arizona.

She was born May 28, 1917, in Barnesville, daughter of the late Arthur and Hazel (Gallagher) Powell.

Mrs. Carpenter retired from Riverside Hospital, Columbus, where she served as director of volunteers. For her work with teen-agers in the volunteer program at the hospital, she received letters of congratulations from President Richard Nixon and Pat Nixon.

She was formerly Woman of the Year in Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Powell; a sister, Betty Geisey; a great-grandson, Tony Cipolla.

She leaves two daughters, Mrs. David (Kay) Campbell of Butler, Pa., and Mrs. Don (Donna) Kincaid of Prescott, Ariz.; two sisters, Evelyn Kistler and Mrs. William (Wilma) McGregor, both of Vero Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews.

No calling hours will be observed.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, is handling the arrangements.
