Joseph Sylvester Doudna


BARNESVILLE — Joseph Sylvester Doudna, 88, of Barnesville, died Wednesday at his home.

He was born Aug. 6, 1912, on the family farm in Barnesville, son of the late Dilwyn W. and Edith R. (Carter) Doudna.

Mr. Doudna was a member of Fairhope Friends Meeting in Fairhope, Ala., and Chestnut Ridge Friends Meeting in Barnesville. He retired from Watt Car & Wheel Co. and Doudna’s Orchard.

He was preceded in death by a son, Roy Doudna; and a daughter, Rebecca Doudna.

He leaves his wife, Virginia C. (Copeland) Doudna; three sons, Clarence (Vickie), Leslie (Victoria) and James (Brenda), all of Barnesville; four sisters, Margery Peacock and Elma May Hall, both of Barnesville, Waunita Bundy of Springfield and Ruth Hall of Burgettstown, Pa.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville. The service will be After the Manner of Friends at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.
