Dorothy Mae Kratz


BETHESDA - Dorothy Mae Kratz, 86, of Columbus, formerly of California and Belmont, died Thursday Sept. 21, 2000 at Whetstone Care Center, Columbus. She was born May 25, 1914, in Belmont, daughter of the late William & Emma (Hummel) Kratz. Miss Kratz was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a Army Major nurse during World War II and also in Korea, making a career in the military.

She was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church, Columbus. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Kratz; a foster brother, Harold Fields. She leaves a sister, Betty Saxman of Dublin; a sister-in-law, Margaret Kratz of Salem, Va.; two nieces, Kim Balzano and Kassie Hurley, both of Columbus. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Bethesda, with services to follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Vicky Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Belmont Cemetery.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Belmont County Council VFW.
