Sarah McWilliams

Mrs. Sarah McWilliams died at her home in the east end of town on Saturday evening after an illness of several weeks, following a stroke of apoplexy.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. H.L. King and Rev. J.C. Spring. A choir composed of members of the different churches sang favorite selections. The floral offerings were most beautiful, consisting of a wreath of autumn foliage entwined with calla lilies and there were several bunches of lovely pink and white carnations. Later she was laid beside the remains of her husband, John H. McWilliams, who died many years ago. Mrs. McWilliams was about 85 years of age and had resided here some 25 or 30 years.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church, was a quiet unassuming Christian and a loving, affectionate mother. She was the mother of nine sons and daughters, two of whom are deceased. The remaining members of the family were all present during her last hours. Wilson of near Salem church; John of Olivet; Hoge of Bethesda; Wilbur L., William and Mrs. John Crozier of this place, and Mrs. Adeline Morgan of Mingo, besides a large number of grandchildren, most of whom attended the funeral. A son-in-law, Mr. Luke Frazer and children, of Barnesville, were also present.
