Mary E. Walton

Funeral services for Miss Mary R. Walton, Columbus, formerly of Barnesville, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Columbus. She died Friday after a lingering illness.

Miss Walton was born in Barnesville, the daughter of James W. and Martha L. Walton. After the death of her father the family moved to New York City in 1897. Since 1919 Miss Walton lived in Columbus. For about 17 years she was employed in the state headquarters of the American Legion, leaving that service several months ago because of poor health. At an early age she became a member of the Methodist church in Barnesville.

Funeral services were held from the Kelly-Kemp funeral home Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. C.B. Jones of the Ebenezer Baptist Church conducted the services. Burial was made in Ebenezer cemetery.

Surviving are three brothers, William T. and James S. Walton, Portland, Ore., and Charles C. Walton, Columbus, with whom she made her home. She also leaves the following cousins in Cambridge, Mrs. Fred w. Lane, Mrs. T. E. Amos and George A. Beckett. She had many friends here and in Barnesville who are saddened by her death.
